This is not just some trendy joint that "cool" people go to, it's a small, local eatery that attracts people from all walks of life due to it's amazing food, drinks, and atmosphere. I have never had a bad experience at the Sugar Bowl, and I've been many times. Whether I'm in with a friend or with a family of 15, the service and food is always great. In terms of experience, it's best in summer, but almost as great in Winter. I would recommend the curry chicken vegetable stew. Make sure to have a drink while you're there; Their beer list is a rare treat for those who enjoy an authentic, cold brew with their meal. As a note, if you plan on going either a) at peak dinner time (around 5-7); or b) with a large group, make sure to make a reservation!

All I can say is, I'm glad that I didn't love the place, because I do not believe that I will ever be eating there again.First of all, the service is total crap. Usually, I'm pretty understanding of that sort of thing, but it was just really bad. We stood at the door for a long time and did not get seated, so we just seated ourselves. Probably due to doing so, a server didn't come over with menus for even longer. I was pretty close to just going and getting my own.I started with a Sangria (6.50$) which is my favourite summertime drink. The weather was nice, so it was called for. The restaurant has a nice patio, but even the inside tables are nice, because they have large garage-style doors that can completely open up the front. (Which was the case when I was there.) The decor is also pretty nice, with exposed brick and independent art on the walls. For my meal, I had the Coconut Curry Tofu (13$). It was large and came with chopsticks. It was quite spicy and tasty, although the rice was a little stuck together. Also, the chunks of tofu were only mediocre. You can find great tofu at Oodle Noodle Box.For desert, the Chocolate Souffle (6$) was shared. It was quite delicious and warm, made from Callebeaut chocolate. Although it was a lot like a lava cake... In conclusion, Sugar Bowl is only hugely popular because it's trendy. The food there is nothing fantastic, the service is worse. But somehow "cool people" go there, or at least talk about it... And so we go...It was a nice place to laugh and hold hands over a sunset though...
