Me and a group of guys stopped at the Buffet Royal on Gateway,after a long day at work. we were just hungry and tired and wanted something quick. We will be coming back for sure. There was a lot of choices, the ribs and chicken are real good. You can have a beer too, bonus. I was glad the server took away our messy plates fast. I thinks we found our regular after dinner stop. Keep it up guys and we will be back.

By far the worst experience I have had in a long time at a restaurant! My friend and I decided to try the brunch buffet on Sunday mornings after a long night of drinking we thought what better than all you can eat. Let me tell you, nothing! The eggs were slimy, the bacon over cooked, eggs ben. cold! After letting our server know that we were unhappy and the food was awful he said he would bring it up with his manager. Not only did we not receive a visit from the manager to inquire about our complaint, she laughed and continued talking to a chef at the front. Horrible food and service! Will not return.

We have had great food and service each time we have been. If you make a reservation or not we have been able to get a table without a wait. The one time had crab legs but the other times did not. There are so many choices from Salads to Soups to Main dishes and Deserts to satisy any appetite. We have recommended the restaurant to those who have never been as well as bringing friends with us. They have also enjoyed their meals.
We had great servers each and every time we have been. They bringing the beverages quickly and clear the plates in good time so you do not have any on your table in the way.
Top marks for all.

This palce is excellent! I don\'t know why anyone would think otherwise. The selection is outstanding! The endless crab can\'t be beat. Where else can you get almost any kind of food that you could possibly think of! Over 100 items to choose from! My kids loved it!

My husband searched the internet for somewhere to go for lunch on Father's Day, somewhere on the southside where we seldom eat. He found great reviews for this restaurant and thought it would be great to try. IT WAS A HORRIBLE CHOICE! (The reason it has such great reviews is because there is a contest for a limo ride and 4 dinners, and they choose the winner based on the best review - how slimy!) Anyway, we were charged $24.99/person, that does not include pop or coffee, just water. The selection, for a buffet, was very limited. My father had the breakfast food - and the french toast was so mushy he couldn't even eat it. My husband had the roast beef - it was just about alive it was so rare and he asked for well done. My mother had some wonton soup, and couldn't eat it because it was so salty. Overall, we found the selection and quality extremely lacking for a $25 price tag. The restuarant was not fancy, and we regret going there for this special occasion. I think the reviews would be very different if people weren't trying to win this contest!

I want to start off that my family and I have been here on several occasions and love the place. Buffet royale has a selection that each one of us can enjoy! Selections here are not a problem, even my vegatarian daughter was able to enjoy herself and find some things she liked. The food is pretty good except one complaint I do have is that the corn on the cob is extremely gross and sticky from rolling around in butter and not being changed out enough. The manager did have some freshly made up for us, what buffet can you go to and have something made fresh for you ?! Other than that food fits expectations. The service on the other hand varies. We first visited the buffet a little over a year ago and were not impressed. The last few times we have gone including mothers day we were shocked, our server was attentive and for the amount of people we still recieved great service from both the sever and the manager. However, we had witnessed while paying our bill a server lashing out on the manager. I dont work in the service industry but I do know that for a server to talk to their boss that way or draw negative attention to them is not right. Thankfully the manager handled it professionally and pulled her aside privately.

Top notch food! Beef ribs were my favorite-- all you can eat ribs is something my friends and I enjoy when we get our cravings to pig out! They also have a private area with big screen tvs to watch the hockey games on which is perfect if your looking for a place with fast service, awesome food and quieter than a pub! I have always had terrific experiences at buffet royale and last time I was there the manager Alyx and my server Lesley both accommodated to me and my buds all night. We were well taken care of and have nothing to complain about-- except that the ladies couldn't sit and join us :)! Highly recommended!

I have never seen such a variety of food at a buffet before until I went to buffet royale. Everything there was top quality and made my mouth water! They had mussels and shrimp ! A chocolate fountain with tons of fruit and goodies! Amazing AAA beef ribs and rotisserie chicken. This is the place to go if your looking for tons of choices and perfect for even fussy children because with a little over 100 items you can't go wrong! Not too mention our server Chris and the manager Alyx were delightful and helpful with all of our questions. We will definitely be back. Food is beyond amazing and service outstanding!

Our dinner last night was the best I have had in a while. I have not been to a buffet in a few years, but I am sure that I will be a regular patron now. I have not encountered a better restaurant in ages. The selection is amazing. The food taste was awesome. My kids loved it. There was something for each of my "picky" kids to make them happy. If you are looking for somewhere to eat on the south side of Edmonton, I think the best bet is Buffet Royale. It is easy to get to (in the Save-On-Foods building between Gateway Blvd and Calgary Trail). I am happy to see that they have done nice renovations. The staff is friendly. The food is such a great value! Plenty of fresh, healthy choices. The salad bar is great. Roast beef so tender. The Chinese food section alone is bigger than any usual Chinese buffet and then you have at least 50 other choices on top of that. Desset is also included of which the ice cream sundae station is my pic. The manager let me know that they use real cream for the ice cream (no imitation ice milk product. The soft serve ice cream is so delicious! My kids sure think it is cool that the can work the ice cream machine themselves and top it off with their own selection of strawberries, chocolate and sprinkles! They can't wait to go back!

I had decided to try buffet royale after many of my friends had raved about their awesome experience at the gateway location. They've done some major renovations! When you walk through the front doors your greeted warmly with a smiling hostess ready to seat you. You are given the choice of preference between a booth or table which you do not get a lot at other establishments. Once we were sat our server Harlan greeted us and presented us with a selection of drink suggestions in which we decided on a blue parrot and a Shirley temple. I definitely wasn't disappointed, the blue parrot had bright colors like a parrot and tasted amazing. Both of us then got up and helped ourselves. They have a selection to choose from of Ukrainian food, soups, Chinese food, seafood, salads, a chocolate fountain loaded with a variety of fruit, desserts, etc. During our meal Alex the manager visited our table inquiring how everything was. She was very friendly and offered to bring us anything else we needed! At the end of the meal when paying we even got fortune cookies which are my favorite!! The bathrooms and buffet were very clean abd up to standards. Everything tasted great and the service was phenomenal. I will be recommending Buffet Royale to all my friends.

First of all i love coming here with my family!. This resturant is my ideal 5 star resturant. Been coming here for years. For birthday`s, special occasions or just to have something to eat. This restaurant is a prime example of how it all should be. Your greeted at the door in a very friendly manner and seated very quickly.The restaurant is kept very clean and in good repair, obviously because of a great caring and friendly staff. Your every need is catered to.

There is an exceptional variety of top quality fresh main courses, salads and deserts to be savoured, not to mention the chocolate fountain for added pleasure.Something there for everyone, be it a child or adult. There is also a drink menu to choose your favorite.

A great value for your hard earned dollar. This has to be Edmontons best family restaurant.

My family couldn't decide on a place to eat, so we thought we would try a buffet. We had never been here before and I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of items at their buffet. If you want bang for your buck, Buffet Royale is the place to go. My whole family found something to please their individual tastes. The food is high quality and seems to go on for miles. My recommendation: try a tiny bit of everything then load up on your favorites! I personally loaded up on the fabulous desserts! My kids couldn't believe that they even got cotton candy. Usually they only get that once a year at the fair.

I just got home from a beautiful Valentine's Day dinner with my family at Buffet Royale. The Calgary Trail location has just been renovated and it is quite nice. It looks like they knocked out a few walls which gives the restaurant a clean, wide open concept. The food selection can't be beat! What more can you ask for than to dip countless fresh strawberries in Callebaut chocolate on Valentine's Day! The shrimp were awesome too!

What a Fantastic restaurant to take my family to for New Year's day! Every one was satisfied, there were no dishes to do, and we ate and ate all for an excellent price. Where else can you get Prime Rib and fresh fruit and Chocolate fountain for 21 bucks!!! Dessert is even included. Last week I went to Olive Garden, and got hosed for a $7.50 piece of cheesecake. There was something for everyone, and I could enjoy my wine while the kids enjoyed the sundae bar!

This is probably the best dining choice that you could make in Edmonton. This is not your stereotypical buffet. The food is quality stuff (shrimp, mussels, Callebaut Chocolate, turkey, prime rib, etc). The gentleman at the carving station serving the prime rib in Sherwood Park is sure kind and friendly. There is something for everyone here. One person in my group is a vegetarian and she even had tonnes to choose from. Awesome dessert selection. you will not go home hungry from this place!

This buffet is outstanding! So much to choose from. Very high quality choices. The shrimp, turkey, and the prime rib were some of the best I have ever eaten. I was surprised to see that they will be open for Christmas Day. I think that my girlfriend and I will actually go there for the Christmas feast. Too much hassle to cook a turkey at home for just 2 people. Renovations are also beautiful. Try this - you'll love it!

Buffet Royale now has Turkey and Prime Rib on their buffet. I mean the whole feast complete with stuffing, etc. The prime rib is so tender and the au jus gravy is very tasty. Prime rib is normally very expensive so I can't believe they are offering it all-you-can-eat! This place would be an excellent choice to take the family out for Thanksgiving!

I went to Buffet Royale with my family last year for Thanksgiving Dinner. I was scrumptious! I am gald I found out about this place because I didn't feel like the hassle of cooking a huge turkey dinner at home. They had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, etc. They were also still serving up the rest of the buffet with perogies, Chinese food, etc. We are going back again this year and would recommend this to any family seeking a good Thanksgiving feast.

Buffet Royale Carvery has really stepped it up! I went there years ago and it was OK, but now it is amazing! They have really classed this place up. The food was great. Service was friendly. Pleasant atmosphere. All-you-can-eat seafood, roast beef, etc for a reasonable price. I would have to think really hard to come up with something that was not on that buffet! Everything from Chinese food to Ukrainian food. (Try the borsch) Gotta love that Callebaut chocolate fountain - my family can't wait to go back again! This is anything but a typical buffet!

This buffet is great. The food tastes amazing. High quality every step of the way. Beautiful, classy decor. I would recommend this dining experience to anyone. Buffet Royale Carvery has really taken it up a notch - actually several notches! This place is really classy now. The buffet is redesigned and the decor is beautiful. Food is spectacular. Went to the BR last night and was a little disappointed. Afetr reading the reviews it shows these reviewers don't get out much. The food was reasonable but bland, selection was small but the cockolate fountain was fun. Also saw a the team wipping up a station with cotton candy and the kids loved it. Buffet Royale in Sherwood Park just opened and it is incredible! The place is huge. There is an open-concept kitchen that lets you see the cooks. It gives you a good feeling that they are not trying to hide anything. Very clean. The food seems to go on for miles. My favourites were the chocolate fountain, roast beef, rotisserie chicken, fresh salad bar, and the taco station. High quality seafood. The ice cream sundae bar was brightly colored and was appealing to the eye. I would recommend going. Oh yeah - how cool, they rent limos to take you to a party there!

I now have a whole new outlook of buffets.I was pleased to see that there was high end food instead of "filler foods". They had really tasty shrimp - all you can eat! They lost money on me. I would have had to pay five times more to order what I ate if I went to a menu restaurant! Dessert is even amazing and included in the price too. Why would I bother spending 7 bucks for a piece of cake somewhere else when I can choose to eat anything I want. The cost was only 20 bucks. Go for it guys - you will be impressed.

My family had a large group of people for dinner at Buffet Royale Carvery. We were thrilled with the food and the atmosphere. We had a private room. The decor was warm and inviting. I was happy that everyone in the group could choose what they wanted to eat. We could relax and eat at our own leisure. We could eat immediately if we wanted to instead of waiting a long time to be served. (We celebrated this party last year at another restaurant and waited over an hour for our food) Everyone was pleased this year with our choice. Even the kids in the group got to eat food that excited them. This is a great choice for families.

A whole bunch of my family went to Buffet Royale Carvery tonight and I ate and ate because I kept seeing something that looked even yummier than the thing before. The rotisserie chicken is soooo goood. I ate lots of spring rolls too!

Thanks for taking us out for dinner tonight Mom. Buffet Royale was fantastic! My favorite was the perogies and the cool corn roller machine. Oops, Actually my favorite was the chocolate fountain and the cotton candy. 20 more sleeps till my birthday and guess where I want to go for dinner!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised at the amazing selection that Buffet Royale Carvery had to offer! I went there with my brothers family and we enjoyed the seafood, the Chinese food, the fresh salad bar , and the chocolate fountain - yummy! The price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!

For a buffet the Dollar to food value isn't there we could have gone to a real restuarant. The service was okay but when the server spilt a drink on one of our party the customer service was completely lacking when it came to dealing with the managers. It was implied to us that we were trying to run a scam with the restaurant for one meal on a $155.00 bill! The experience as tourists was unsatisfactory.
